This is a transcript of a call taking place in the late morning between A.T. Needy and Conolia Technical Support (CTS):CTS: “Good morning. Conolia Technical Support. How may I help you?”
NEEDY: "Hi, my notebook stopped working . . ."
CTS: "What seems to be the problem?"
NEEDY: "It won't start; even after I glued all the pieces back together."
CTS: "What do you mean glued the pieces back together?"
NEEDY: "Well, you see I was having the worst programming day ever of my career. Programs wouldn't work and my laptop kept crashing, so I decided to be proactive. My friend in Denver suggested throwing the laptop off a six story building. I told him we should be practical. After all, there aren’t any six story buildings in the area. So he suggested throwing it out the window of my car on the freeway. “
CTS: “You’ve got to be kidding.”
NEEDY: “No, I couldn't think of any other solution at 3:30am. So, I did it. Long story short, after I recovered from my hangover, I realized I made a terrible mistake. I gathered the pieces from the side of the road for half the morning and managed to glue the thing back together. Realizing the error in my ways I drove the necessary 100 miles to the nearest six-story building. I ran up the stairs and quickly hurled it over the edge hoping that the first attempt hadn't irreversibly damaged the notebook.
CTS: “You did what???”
NEEDY: “Well, I was hoping that maybe the first brilliant solution suggested by my friend might still work. Unfortunately, it didn't. That’s why I'm calling."
CTS: "Is this some kind of joke? Very funny."
NEEDY: "I’m not kidding."
