Many in today's society push vegetarian diets as a way to spare harmless animals that are subjected to a destiny of feeding humans. Many restaurants cater to these people by offering vegetarian options and promoting them as such. Delis sometimes even exult their vegetable soup as being "Vegetarian Vegetable". Now it seems that every year when Thanksgiving comes around, we hear about all the poor turkeys that will be slaughtered for our feasts. We are then told that tofu turkeys are a better option. Therefore, if we have tofu masquerading around as meat, why not do the opposite; non-vegetarian vegetables? Here are some ideas:
- Shredded roast beef dyed green to look like cabbage
- Strips of turkey dyed green to look like asparagus (or for an easier dish, try the shape of green beans or peas)
- White chicken meat cut into rings to look like onions (this would solve the political controversy surrounding onions - see The Evils of Onions)
